Wilfrid berg

Wilfrid Berg was a Muskegon, Michigan–based artist who spent nearly two decades wintering in Sarasota, Florida, contributing to its vibrant postwar art scene. After enlisting in the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1942, Berg trained in Sarasota with the 97th Bombardment Group before serving as an operations clerk and artist across North Africa and Europe during World War II. He famously painted throughout his military service before returning to Sarasota in 1946.

Berg worked closely with artist William Hartman and taught at the Hartman School of Art. He exhibited with the Sarasota Art Association and the Florida Gulf Coast Group, and was likely among the artists who helped transform a hangar at the former Army Airfield into a thriving creative hub. Best known for his watercolors, oils, and lithographs, Berg remained devoted to his art throughout his life.
