Over the past 15 years, Rob Tarbell has been recognized for creating and developing unorthodox processes involving the indirect manipulation of the material properties inherent to smoke and porcelain. Through the collection, corruption, assemblage, and mechanical activation of found, second-hand ceramic, porcelain, plaster, and chalkware tchotchkes, the L’Avouterie fling precious figurines into unfortunate circumstances and wobbly narratives. These once cherished curios are informed, debased, preserved and adulterated with talc, wool, lights, motors, fine flatware, and rabbity guises.
