“'Collective Narratives' Pops Up on Pineapple, Reinvents Group Show”

Two new art exhibitions open in Burns Court this Saturday, just in time for the Pineapple Slice Art Walk.

At 502 Gallery, Color + Clay highlights the work of Ringling College alumnus Omar Chacon, known for his intricate and many-colored mosaics, alongside the largely monochromatic ceramic art of the late Polly Johnson, a Ringling College instructor whose sculptures in porcelain and stone, each covered in esoteric patterns and lines, lay on display like artifacts from a forgotten people…

The 502 Approach

As Sarasota’s only gallery devoted entirely to exhibiting small works, 502 Gallery opened its one-room space off South Pineapple in the belief that great things can come in the smallest of packages. Its debut show, Shopliftable, is already making a good case. Painting, ceramics, photography, metalwork, fiber art, woodcrafting and collage are all on display and, with more than 40 professional artists showing at once, a quick trip around the room is something akin to viewing a whole cross-section of creative activity in Sarasota…

“Artists think big in small ways in new gallery’s ‘Shopliftables’ show”

The new 502 Gallery in downtown Sarasota is the brainchild of Tim Jaeger and Cassia Kite, a husband-and-wife team of artists and curators. But don’t let mere size fool you. As Jaeger sees it, this art may be small. But these artists think big…

“New 502 Gallery focuses on art you can fit in your hand”

“The owners of Sarasota’s newest art gallery don’t really want you to steal the work they’re showing, but their opening show is called “Shopliftable” because the art is probably small enough to sneak out.

502 Gallery in the Burns Court District is the creation of artist Tim Jaeger; his wife, artist and educator Cassia Kite Jaeger; and Dr. Richard Mones, a retired radiologist and art collector. The gallery is dedicated to small works…
