Christina Hess

With over 25 years of experience illustrating in the fields of publishing and numismatics, my work celebrates the beauty of nature, animals, portraits, and food motifs. My work has garnered several accolades, including the prestigious Best Historical Coin of the Year award at the 2022 International Award competition. My illustrations have been showcased in annuals and exhibitions such as Women of Wonder at the Society of Illustrators in NYC, Spectrum Annuals, and Imagine FX. Additionally, my art has been featured on platforms like ABC News, Mental Floss, Juxtapose Magazine, My Modern Met, and Jezebel Magazine.

My career has also been deeply rooted in education; for the past 25 years, I have taught illustration in higher education, currently serving as the department head of illustration at Ringling College of Art and Design. Born and raised in Lititz, Pennsylvania, I pursued higher education in Philadelphia, attending The University of the Arts and remaining in Philly for 25 years. I now reside in Venice, Florida, where I am surrounded by inspiration of the local wildlife, including sandhill cranes, alligators, and the occasional black racer snake.
