BRIGITTA SULTANA
Birgitta Sultana is a full-time mother, wife, painter, and creator, with a passion for painting and photography. Her 20-year creative career began in New York after earning a BFA from Alfred University in 1996. In NYC, she worked in photography and on-air graphics for ABC Television, as well as in cosmetic design for brands like Elizabeth Arden and Ralph Lauren. After relocating to Sarasota in 2002, she continued her graphic design career with Coldwell Banker and SRQ Magazine. Since 2007, she has freelanced in graphic design, done commission painting, and continued her studies at Ringling College of Art & Design while raising her children.
Her work spans various mediums, including painting, collage, encaustic, and photo transfers combined with painting. Currently, she focuses on acrylic painting and incorporates photo transfers, appreciating the texture they leave on the surface and the process itself before applying paint. Her work often features geometric landscapes that play with shapes and shadows, whether created by nature or constructed by her. Inspired by her travels and the vast landscapes she encounters, she translates the images she brings home onto canvas.
